We conducted the groundbreaking on the site for Liloan’s Center of Excellence in Information Communications Technology (ICT) together with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI), Department of Education Region 7, and Don Bosco with whom we also signed a Memorandum of Agreement.
The ICT Center of Excellence will offer to Senior High School Students of Liloan a world-class learning facility with the highest degree of instruction in ICT, with participation from the ICT Industry itself. According to RAFI and DEPED, because of the ICT Center’s advanced and highly specialized curriculum and set-up, it is the first of its kind in the Philippines.
In my message of commitment, I expressed that the establishment of this one-of-a-kind educational facility reaffirms our local government’s commitment to the education of our young as our number 1 priority in Liloan. This also paves the way for the fulfillment of one of our goals for Liloan to be a dynamic hub for the BPO and IT Industry where young and skilled professionals thrive.
One of the last conversations I had with the late Roberto “Bobby” Aboitiz was about the establishment of this ICT Center. “If successful”, he said, “this will become a model.” I paid tribute to Tito Bobby, as we expressed our gratitude for his and RAFI’s altruism and for this partnership that has spanned many years since Duke Frasco ’s time as Mayor. The fulfillment of this dream has been the product of years of cooperation and collaboration between Liloan, RAFI, DepEd Region 7, and Don Bosco.
Thank you RAFI, RAFI Chairman Jon Ramon Aboitiz, Ernie Alix, Atty. James Abadia, DepEd Region 7 Director Juliet Jeruta, Don Bosco, and to all partners and stakeholders who made this possible!
In Liloan, Education is Number 1! h
